It Gets Worse Every Year

If there’s ever been proof that Arsenal’s transfers are handled behind closed doors (the Tomas Rosicky bombshell notwithstanding – nobody saw that coming), it is this close season. As a great man has pointed out, speculation and outright lies abound concerning players coming and going.

I feel it’s sad that “major” news outlets resort to such antics. Instead of being creative and offering reports and features that are credible, they manufacture stories that make them less credible by the day.

I stopped taking the “news” that’s disseminated by so-called reputable sources seriously many years ago. Year in year out I am vindicated for having done so. The latest bit of dodgy information comes in a “leaked” copy of the first six fixtures of the 2009-10 season. Contrary to what had been stated on many blogs, we will not be playing West Ham the first game of the season. It has now emerged via a “draft” fixture list that Everton is our first opponent in August. We don’t play West Ham until late October.
